If player numbers allow and interest exists, IYHA may form one or two split season teams. This is a pre-season/fall hockey team in addition to the usual winter Travel and Snowbelt teams. Many of the players participating in the Split Season team may be on a winter High School team and not able to participate in a winter Travel or SnowBelt team.
The goals of the Split Season team is to create a competitive travel team that will play a required number of qualifying games prior to the start of the High School season, then re-form after the HS season has ended to compete in Sectionals/State tournaments. The decision to declare a tournament bound team will occur after the player evaluations and tournament dates are released. Depending on player interest either one 18U or an 18U and 16U team may be formed. Split season teams typically start practices at the end of August, practicing once per week through the end of October. They will play around 12 games plus a couple of tournaments in the fall.
2023-2024 Season Specifics: The Travel (AA) Program will hold all ice sessions at Cass Park. All participants are required to have a USA Hockey registration prior to registering with IYHA, (USA Hockey registration is $43). The IYHA program cost is as follows:
