RE: News

DATE: 20 August 2002

Dear IYHA family: This summer your board of directors has been hard at work planning and organizing our activities for the upcoming season. And as many of you know, Steve Lamb and Joe Sullivan, and a dedicated cadre of coaches also have been hard at work running another outstanding InLine season. Thanks to Steve, Joe and all of the coaches for making this season such a success.

Wayne Stokes continues as our Vice-President of House this season. Don't hesitate to contact Wayne (533-8757) if you'd like to be involved in the House program. Please join us at our August 28th meeting as we continue to consider ideas from our membership for strengthening and expanding the House program.

This memo contains news items about Registration, Travel and UNYHL team tryouts, checking clinics for first-year PeeWees, and fees for the 2002-2003 season.

Some Important News Items:

1. September 8, 10am-2pm: IYHA Registration & Used Equipment Sale (more details to come).

2. September 14 10:30AM-12:00PM at the Rink: First of two scheduled checking Clinics. The checking clinic is mandatory for 1st year PeeWee players. The clinic is optional for 2d year PeeWees.

3. September 14: Travel Team Tryouts Begin. tentative schedule for our Travel teams. All tryouts will be at the Rink:

5. 2002-2003 IYHA Registration Fees. Your board of directors has worked very hard to keep the increases in this year's fees as small as possible. Unfortunately, over the past three years we have faced substantial increases (an ave of 10% each year!) in the cost of ice rentals at our local rinks. Since ice rental is, by far, the biggest item in our budget, the increases in our rental fees force us to adjust our registration fees. This year families have an opportunity to recoup $100 of their registration fees when they sell the raffle tickets which will be distributed with registration packets.

IYHA Registration Fees, 2002-2003 Season:

$260 Initiation Full time
$410 Mite House
$TBA Squirt House
$610 *PeeWee Snowbelt
$610 Bantam Snowbelt
$610 Midget Snowbelt
$765 Mite Travel
$945 Squirt Travel
$865 Squirt UNYHL
$945 *PeeWee Travel
$865 *PeeWee UNYHL
$945 Bantam Travel
$945 Bantam UNYHL
$945 Midget Minor Travel
$595 Midget Major Travel

* First year PeeWee fees will be $10 higher to pay for the checking clinics on 9/14 & TBA date. Second Year PeeWees who want to particpate will be assessed an additional $10 fee.
* All travel and UNY tryout fees are $35. They are built into the fees above. If your child attends a tryout for a team and is cut, the tryout fee portion of the fee is non-refundable.
* This year the IYHA will impose a $50 dropout fee on all players quitting the IYHA prior to 12/31/02. In addition, the remaining balance will be prorated. No refunds will be available after 12/31/2002.

As always, if you have any questions about this, or any other aspect of the IYHA's programs, please do not hesitate to contact me or any other member of the IYHA board. Best, wishes for a GREAT HOCKEY SEASON to all of our IYHA players and families. Very truly yours,

Jon Macey
