PeeWee Travel Wins Silverstick Reginal
Tournament in Rome The Ithaca PeeWee Travel team won the Silversticks Northeast Regional tournament in Rome, NY December 10th - 12th, winning all four games and beating Grand Niagara in the championship game, 3-1. The team will now play in the Silversticks Nationals in Port Huron, Michigan in January. The Peewees defeated Camillus in its first game, 3-1, Austin Romantic, Max Addy, and Craig Esposito scored, and Cooper Belyea stopped 23 of 24 shots in goal. In its second game, Ithaca defeated Norfolk, NY, 5-2, with goals from Romantic, Addy, Esposito, Colby Gee and Cal Addy. Tyler Trueman stopped 16 of 18 shots in goal. In the semifinal, Ithaca defeated Rome, 1-0, as Max Addy scored the lone goal and Belyea got the shutout in goal on 18 shots. In the championship game, Ithaca defeated a Grand Niagara team that had outscored its opponents 23-3 in its three preliminary games. The Addy brothers each tallied a goal and Esposito got the eventual game-winning goal with 7 minutes remaining the third period. Belyea stopped 17 of 18 Grand Niagara shots and ended the tournament giving up 2 goals in three games and stopping 58 of 60 shots. Other team members include Tyler St. Denis, Chris Troy, Corey Gibbons, Eli Gobrecht, Connor Lofgren, Douglas Fernandez, Zach Hughes, Christain McGrath, and Anthony Massicci. The team is coached by Tom Addy, with assistant coaches Brian Belyea, Clark Gee, Scott Hughes, and Jesse Esposito. |
