Message from Joe Sullivan--Summer In-Line Program

It is that time of year again to begin thinking about Inline Hockey at Cass. I have decided to step up and Direct the program this season with the assistance of Pat Musa and Mike Kasel.

This year we have decided to do the Games every Wednesday 5:30-10?? instead of stretching things over 3 days. I think for all concerned it will improve attendance and make life simpler.

Mike Kasel will do the Mite/Squirt division and I will do PeeWee/Bantam Midget. Pat will be directing the administration/registration. We all have a long time commitment  to the success of the IYHA Inline program.

In the past we have picked teams and formed into a league. This was hard as attendance became an issue with all of the other summer activities and vacations. This year we are going to try something different. I want to run things similar to the winter recreation program where we just split into equally paired teams and just play games. We will still keep the look and feel of real games with referees and time keepers but we won't have organized teams. I think this will work the best. We will try to go with 3 games starting with the Mite/Squirts 5:30-6:45  and then go with the older groups 7:00-8:15  8:30-10:00.

Those of you who have played in the past know this will work and the emphasis will be placed on giving the kids a night to play inline hockey at the park. I like to think of it as action packed FUN.

I would like to get a feel of how many of you will be signing up so we can start to get everything organized. I will figure out the actual cost when I have an idea of the numbers. In the past it has been $85 and this included USAHI registration. I hope to keep the costs the same.Send me and E-mail and answer the following questions.

1- Do you want to sign up?
2- Do we want to start earlier than July?  When?  (We could run a longer season)
3- Do we want to play in Tournaments in CNY? (There are other citys that have teams)
4- Do we want to have a tournament?
5- What are your thoughts?
6- Are you or your company interested in being a sponsor?

Well, this enough to think about for now. Get back to me as it is important that we know what is going on in advance. If you know anyone who wants to play and is not in the loop give them my E-mail and I will help them out.

We look forward another great Ithaca Summer.

Thank you.
