Hockey Families Mite through Midgets
FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN SKATING ONCE/WEEK
THROUGH THE SUMMER READ ON:
IF INTERESTED, WE NEED A COMMITMENT RECEIVED NO LATER THAN APRIL 15TH IN ORDER TO RESERVE ICE TIME.
We also need a minimum of 20 players per
age group in order to cover costs. Note, that due to on ice logistics the maximum number of players will be set at 30.
We have tentatively reserved ice for both Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Our plan is to have weekly, 1 1/2 hour time slots. The program will start the week after July 4th and end the week before
Labor Day Weekend (Total of 8 sessions). Your child will be grouped within next year's age bracket. Cost is estimated to be $100.00 for the whole summer. Also, for the first time, we hope to offer this program to Midget age players.
In the past, this program has been called the "Travel Skate" and
was intended to prepare players for Travel tryouts in the fall. This year the program will not be tied to the Travel tryouts and is open to all players. While Travel team coaches may be directing the sessions,
other (certified) IYHA coaches may also participate.
NOTE: We do not want anyone who may hope their child plays Travel next year to think that it be necessary for them to participate. There are players on this past year's travel teams that did not skate through the summer, and yet still made their respective teams. Our mission with
our summer program is to allow those interested, to come learn some more
and have fun playing.
ALSO NOTE: Within this year's summer program we are going to encourage/welcome any and all certified coaches to come on the ice and participate in a "hands on type" of coaching clinic throughout the summer.
Hence, if interested you need to send your child's name and next year's age group along with an email/phone # for contact purposes to Marsha Emerson, IYHA Secretary,
mje2@cornell.edu. Also, if you are a coach and would like to participate, please contact Marsha as well.
If we do not have enough response to this inquiry we will not go forward with this program; so, if your player is interested, be sure to contact Marsha. Also, sorry, but due to uncomfortable situations in
the past (regarding trying to collect money after our program began) and in recognizing that we are a non-for- profit organization, we need to be strict about payment. No player will be able to skate until the fee is paid in full.
Should you have additional questions that will help you decide, please do not hesitate to contact me at 533-8757 or any other Board member. And if we don't hear from you, hope you have an enjoyable summer.
