Ithaca Squirt travel team wins New York State Championship!
The Ithaca Youth Hockey Associations Squirt travel Team won
the New York State Championship this past weekend in Malone,
NY. The 9 & 10 yr. olds beat Hudson Valley and Grand Niagara
on Friday, while beating Massena on Saturday. In the crossover
game on Sunday morning, the squirts went into the locker room
between the 2nd and 3rd period down 3-2 against the Brewster
Bull Dogs, coming out in the 3rd to win 4-3! That win put the
team into the championship game later that day against the
Saratoga Blue Knights. This time they entered the locker room
tied at one a piece after giving up a man down goal with 12
seconds to go in the 2nd period. Once again they answered the
call winning 5-4 in a game that went down to the wire. The championship
victory was a team effort, with nine players scoring during the tournament.
Great passing, defense and awesome goaltending!
