The Ithaca Peewee Travel Hockey team advanced to the state sectionals in
Lysander after sweeping the pre-sectionals with a five-game victory in Salmon
River last weekend.
On Friday, Ithaca topped Binghamton 5-3. Conor Stokes scored three goals
while Jess Esposito and Cody Fisk had one. Later, Ithaca won 7-2 against
Skaneateles. Stokes had another hat trick with three goals. Fisk, Esposito,
Matt Carpenter and Robbie Young also scored. Tyler Trueman was in goal both
games.
Saturday, Ithaca beat Elmira 9-1. Stokes put in four goals, Kyle Seyler had
two and Max Addy, Craig Esposito and Esposito also scored. Ben Shulman played
in goal.
Later, Ithaca shutout Camillus 5-0 with Trueman in goal. Stokes and A.J.
Fiore had two goals while Addy had one.
On Sunday, Ithaca shutout Auburn 7-0 with Shulman in goal. Torin Varn had
two goals. Christian Shaw, Craig Esposito, Jess Esposito, Stokes and Fisk
scored.
Other team members are T.J. Cretney, Colby Gee, Zach Hughes and Tyler St.
Denis. The team is coached by Earl Carpenter, Terry Fisk, Wayne Stokes and Tom
VanNederyen and managed by Laura Fiore.
The sectionals take place Feb. 27-29 in Lysander. Ithaca will be the No. 1
seed.
